In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Public Health Engineering (PHE) workers and employees held a massive protest demonstration at Udhampur in Jammu, today, seeking redressal of their long-pending demands.

The President of the PHE Employees and Workers Association and Vice-President of Panthers Trade Union, Som Nath, led the protest demonstra-tion.

The employees from Ramnagar, Kaghote, Kul-wanta, Mansar, Majalta, Khoon, Manwal, Tikri, Jib Thathi, Rehambal, Krimchi, Panchari, Chenani, Kud and Patnitop assembled at the PHE Complex, Ud-hampur, and held a demonstration amidst raising slogans in support of their demands.

They were demanding regularization of work-ers, release of pending wages, implementation of Minimum Wages Act and engagement of more workers to run the PHE schemes.

Addressing the protest demonstration, Som Nath criticized the authorities for befooling the Daily Wagers, whose grievances were not being addressed for a long time.

The IIOJK Budget is going to be presented in the Parliament on March 2 and the pending wages of all the daily wagers should be released by making a provision for the same in the budget proposal, he said.—KMS
