The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Youth Social Forum, Maulana Musaib Nadvi, has said that unresolved Kashmir dispute is the main cause of tension between Pakistan and India.
Maulana Musaib Nadvi addressing a Juma congregation in Sopore, today, said that continued illegal detention of Hurriyet leaders and youth could not intimidate the leadership into submission.
He said permanent peace in the region is impossible without settlement of the lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
He said dialogue among all stakeholders, in-cluding Pakistan, India and the genuine leadership of the Kashmiris, was the best possible way to resolve the long-pending dispute.
The police authorities booked Maqsood Ahmad for his continued stance and demand for right to self-determination and holding of a free and fair plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir under the United Nations resolutions.
He was lodged at Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal in Jammu, police said. The Public Safety Act (PSA), 1978, is a black law that allows the detention of any individual for up to two years without a trial or charge.—KMS
