Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Senator Sirajul Haq has said peace in Afghanistan was although important for the stability of the entire South Asian region but it was of key significance for Pakistan.
He was talking to a delegation of Afghan politicians led by Afghanistan President Special Envoy for Pakistan Umer Daudzai which called on him here on Tuesday.
The prevailing situation of the region and other political issues came under discussion during the meeting. The delegation extended invitation from Afghan President Ashraf Ghani to the JI chief for visit to the country which Senator Siraj accepted with thanks.
Talking on occasion, Sirajul Haq said that the people of Pakistan and Afghanistan are tied in a bond of love and brotherhood for centuries and no one could divide them. He highlighted the need to further enhance the people-to-people contact alongside the formal official meetings between the government members of both countries. The JI chief appreciated the agreement between the two governments for not allowing the use of soils against each others. He also said the peace in Afghanistan was only possible when different Afghan groups sit together and initiate dialogue process. He welcomed the consent of all Afghan groups for the participation in Doha talks, saying it had brightened the chances of Afghan peace process.
Meanwhile, Sirajul Haq condemned the Peshawar blast incident which took lives of eight innocent people and injuring around 100 other including students of religious seminary. He prayed for the souls of the deceased and quick recovery of the injured. He said enemies of Islam and Pakistan wanted to destabilize the country though violence and other conspiracies but their plans would never succeed.
