Following the government’s policy of social distancing owing to the threat of rise in coronavirus cases, Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) has decided to turn to hold online sessions or literary activities. After remaining dormant for over two months, the PAL is active once again on the literary front and is planning to hold literary activities including poetry sessions and book launching ceremonies. Chairman Pakistan Academy of Letters Dr Yousuf Khushk on Monday said the academy is determined to continuing all the events without any halt but the mode of activities would be online sessions. He said the difficult challenge of the epidemic was a new way of thinking which had opened up the resources, transformed human activities and we should take advantage of the technology available in this environment and stay in touch with each other. To achieve this goal, Pakistan Academy Letters has decided to organize online literature as well as conducting various literary meetings and conferences nationally and internationally in online activities, he said adding launching of the online “Umeed –e-Zeest Awa rd” by PAL was also a pa rt o f online activities during the days of lockdown. The poetry of Umeed-e-Zeest Award is available on Pakistan Academy Letters website in Urdu, English, Punjabi, Sindhi, Pashto, Balochi, Seraiki and other Pakistani languages from all over the country and abroad.
