Chairman of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority Lt General (R) Asim Bajwa on Monday remarked the people of Pakistan valued historic and deep-rooted ties with China.
Likewise, CPEC which is a game-changer in the region and promises unprecedented economic, social and industrial progress of Pakistan is very dear to them and they feel emotional and personal association with this flagship project of the Belt & Road Initiative (BRI).
Gen (R) Bajwa was addressing a virtual award ceremony for outstanding Pakistani staff of CPEC projects. The online seminar was organized by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China.
He also briefed the participants about various aspects of the project and the pace of different projects completed or under-completion so far. About the ‘outstanding’ staff of the CPEC, he said they were selected on the basis of careful evaluation of their performance and keeping in view their dedication, commitment and passion for work.
He hoped in the coming days, other staff members at various projects of the CPEC would display the same commitment and diligence and will be shortlisted for the awards.
While addressing on the occasion, Ambassador of China Nong Rong appreciated the award winners and said China was making CPEC a demonstration project of BRI. From 2014, when President Xi Jinping visited Pakistan, CPEC has advanced and reached its zenith during Covid-19. Moreover, he also briefed the participants about the recently signed projects under CPEC.
While commenting on the documentary titled “CPEC cooperation during Covid-19” prepared by Pakistan-China Institute, he said it had aptly highlighted bilateral cooperation.
“Due to Covid-19, we have to hold an on-line ceremony this year,” said the ambassador adding, “The 18 outstanding Pakistani staff attending today’s ceremony are from Gwadar Port, energy, infrastructure and other fields of the CPEC construction.” They are outstanding representatives of Pakistani staff in all fields of CPEC cooperation and demonstrate the diversification of China-Pakistan cooperation in the new era, said Ambassador Nong Rong.

At the same time, I would also like to express my gratitude to all the companies and their staff working on the CPEC projects for their continuous contribution in advancing CPEC cooperation.
The Chinese ambassador was of the view that CPEC was an important pilot project of the Belt and Road Initiative and a demonstration project of China-Pakistan cooperation.
It is significant to deepen China- Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership for the building a closer community of shared future, and the realization of high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
