Administrator Karachi Dr. Syed Saif-ur-Rahman on Thursday said that Pakistan was among the countries most affected by climate change, seeking citizens to plant trees to combat the environmental changes, failing to do so would cause irreparable loss.
He said this while addressing a function organized on environmental challenges at Indus University on Thursday. Chairman Board of Intermediate Education Prof. Saeed uddin and others also spoke on this occasion.
The administrator said that it was a fact that human beings had caused the most damage to the planet,.He said that extreme heat in Karachi, extreme cold, bad weather in the month of March, snowfall in Chitral and floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are the effects of climate change.
He urged the students to go ahead to help the government and take charge of greening and beautifying your country, those who can afford water, electricity and gas should not waste it. Administrator Karachi Dr. Syed Saifur Rahman said that the KMC was making efforts to plant greenery and trees at all intersections and open spaces. Chairman Board of Intermediate Education Professor Saeed uddin while addressing the event said that there were 182 government colleges and 172 private colleges in Karachi where environmental clubs were being established.
All people should join the Team Go Green and start the works to make the city green, he said that the aim of the two-day seminar was to provide awareness to the students about environmental challenges, he said.
