KARACHI – Pakistan Banks’ Association (PBA) Executive Committee agreed on the name of Muneer Kamal as the chief executive officer (CEO) and secretary general of the association following retirement of Tawfiq A Hussain from the said positions.
Muneer Kamal will take over the charge on April 1 as Rafiq A Hussain will retire on March 31.
The members of the association praised Hussain for his decade-long service, and cited his significant contributions to the association’s growth and achievements.
Kamal’s extensive corporate governance background includes chairing the Pakistan Stock Exchange and the National Bank of Pakistan, as well as directorships in Engro Corporation and DH Corp.
He also serves on the boards of Infra Zamin Pakistan, GSK Pakistan, Jubilee Life Insurance, and the National Clearing Company of Pakistan (NCCPL), and is a member of the Board of Governors of the National University of Medical Sciences.
Kamal, with over forty years of banking experience, is known for his expertise and leadership qualities, having held positions in various financial institutions including Citibank Pakistan, Faysal Bank, and Union Bank. He holds an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi.
