Operation against illegal water connections launched

A high level meeting was held at MD Secretariat Karsaz under the chairmanship of CEO Water Corporation Engineer Syed Sallahuddin Ahmed.In the meeting, CEO Water Corporation said that Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation has launched a grand operation against water thieves in relation to the increasing theft of water in Karachi, while in the first phase of the operation, illegal hydrants were demolished.

The proceedings of the operation were provided to the print and electronic media in a timely manner to keep the public informed.A coordinated plan was formulated to eradicate all illegal connections besides illegal hydrants and it was decided that all such connections, which do not have legal approval, will be disconnected immediately, a link in this series is the operation done on the 84 inch diameter line in the month of July, out of which 81 connections have been terminated indiscriminately so far, out of these 81 connections, 6 connections were disconnected at New Karachi and 4 connections at Sarjani Town, as per the records of the corporation, legal approval was not available, Later, taking into account the formal request of the public representatives and the concerned Executive Engineer, the Corporation has decided to stop the water supply and restore it within three days to all the connections leading only to the population.

In this context, the public is informed that Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation is a professional department, all the operations of which are done according to the law, and the Corporation will ensure water supply in areas where there is water shortage.

Further, the Corporation has made it clear that all actions taken against illegal connections and hydrants are not based on any political pressure or malice, but purely for the purpose of providing water to the public, because providing the best water supply and drainage facilities to the citizens is one of the top priorities of the corporation.

COO Water Corporation Engineer Asadullah Khan, Chief Engineer Water Muhammad Hanif Baloch, Chief Engineer Bulk Sikandar Zardari, various elected public representatives, Town Chairman’s and other senior officials participated in the meeting.
