ISLAMABAD – Oman Air, the Muscat-based air carrier, has stopped flight operations to major Pakistani cities including the capital Islamabad and Lahore, as the airline made major changes in its destinations.

Oman Air is known for its fleet of modern passenger jets and was widely preferred for its services but now the airline suspended its operations in Islamabad, Lahore, Colombo Chittagong and other regions in Asia. Interestingly, Oman’s national carrier added Sialkot to its network.

The move will affect passengers as South Asians have been living and working in Middle East for employment opportunities and often travel on Oman Air and other flights.

Oman Air Flight Operations

It has been learnt that Oman Air made changes in its destinations and flight frequencies to Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh to cut losses and boost overall revenue.

For India, the airline slashed frequencies to certain cities besides amplifying capacity to Lucknow and the southern Indian state of Kerala.

Furthermore, Oman Air added Trabzon for summer and Malé and Zurich for winter amid holiday seasons.

Oman Air made changes to enhance its schedule efficiency. With a focus on better meeting the needs of the Omani market and facilitating key travel routes to and from Muscat, the airline has adjusted the flight timings for its famous destinations.

The Gulf flight carrier said it is adopting a flexible strategy to respond to evolving market conditions and capitalize on opportunities for the benefit of the country’s economy and social goals.
