Newly-elected office-bearers of IHC journalist association calls on CJ

Office-bearers of the newly elected Islamabad High Court Journalists Association (IHCJA) called on Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Justice Athar Minallah and briefed him about the working, problems of the association.
The chief justice congratulated the newly-elected president Amir Saeed Abbasi, General Secretary Faisal Sahi and other office-bearers for winning the elections and hoped they would work and represent the court reporters in a professional way.
He urged the court reporters to highlight the problems of litigants in media since the litigants are the real stakeholders in the criminal justice system.
The IHC Chief Justice Minallah greeted the newly elected office bearers of the Islamabad High Court Journalists Association (IHCJA) and said in our society, litigants have been marginalized and beneficiaries of the system have emerged as the stakeholders.
Justice Minallah highlighted the lack of basic facilities within the premises of the district courts of the federal capital. He pointed out that since establishment of Islamabad as federal capital, successive governments never given any importance to the district judiciary.
“This is because the rich or the powerful segments of society rarely approach the sessions court and they prefer to seek relief from the constitutional courts instead”, Justice Minallah said.
Justice Minallah also congratulated the newly elected office bearers of the IHCJA.
The court reporters on Friday elected Amir Saeed Abbasi as president IHCJA. Faisal Sahi has been elected as general secretary while Malik Najeeb secured the seat of finance secretary.
Ehtasham Kiani of 24 News was the runner up for the presidential slot as he secured 21 against 29 votes of Amir Saeed Abbasi while Faisal Sahi and other office-bearers got elected uncontested.
