Chat easier with instant messaging WhatsApp’s new voice note-to-text conversion feature that is now being offered in Beta version.
2024’s most used app is currently testing a new feature on phones that provides text versions of voice messages, a capability already available on iPhones since May. This feature is included in the latest update of the WhatsApp beta app (version 2.24.15.5).
The screenshot showcasing this feature comes from the WABetaInfo team. The voice message transcription feature supports several languages such as English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and Hindi, with plans to add more languages in the future. Users will need to download additional language packs for enhanced privacy and security of their transcribed messages stored locally on their devices.
When this feature eventually launches in Pakistan (though no specific date has been announced), its effectiveness with Urdu voice messages may be limited initially. However, given the app’s support for Hindi, some messages in Urdu may also be transcribed. Generally, transcription accuracy is expected to be higher for messages in English.
Regarding the official release date, WhatsApp has not provided any announcements yet, but given its inclusion in the beta version, the feature is likely to be available on the main WhatsApp app soon.
