A new island has emerged in the Arabian Sea near Sonmiani beach of Balochistan, it was revealed on Thursday.
WWF Pakistan Technical Advisor (Marine Fisheries) Muhammad Moazzam Khan said that the new island appeared in west off the coast of Sonmiani near Kund Malir.
These Islands appear due to excessive geological activities in the area, he said, adding that such small islands disappear after some time.
It is pertinent to note that such Islands had earlier emerged at the same location in 2000 and 2010.
While in 2013, an island emerged off Gwadar coast after a powerful earthquake of 7.7 magnitude struck Pakistan. But interestingly, the island had disappeared after some time.
