ISLAMABAD – The prices of Suzuki Alto, one of the most-selling cars in Pakistan, are likely to witness an increase of up to Rs180,000 from next fiscal year starting from July 2025.
It comes as the federal government has proposed increasing the standard general sales tax (GST) on locally assembled small-engine cars with engine capacity up to 850cc to 18 percent from existing 12.5%.
The proposal was made by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb while presenting the budget for fiscal year 2025-26.
The prices of Suzuki Alto will witness a whooping increase if the budget proposal to increase the GST is approved by the parliament.
