MUZAFFARABAD – A tense exchange unfolded when Azad Jammu and Kashmir Inspector General of Police Liaquat Malik became visibly triggered while responding to questions about bodies of protesters killed during recent unrest.
The situation intensified when journalist Haider Shirazi questioned police chief about protesters’ bodies. Malik then took the microphone away from the journalist, bringing the exchange to an abrupt halt.

The heated moment came as IGP was addressing the security situation in Azad Kashmir, where authorities have been facing questions over the handling of violent protests and the use of force.
Speaking about the unrest, Malik said 122 people had been arrested in cases involving attacks on police personnel, injuries to law-enforcement officials and damage to public property. He said 69 FIRs had also been registered in connection with the incidents.
IGP further said that more than 1,000 people were injured during the unrest, with police, other law-enforcement personnel and civilians among those affected.
The confrontation over the protesters’ bodies, however, became the most striking moment of the briefing, with Malik’s reaction drawing immediate attention and showing intense questions surrounding the deaths during the unrest.
