ISLAMABAD – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has approved an increase of Rs2.75 per unit increase in power tariff on the account of the second quarterly tariff adjustment
The federal government has endorsed the decision by issuing a notification regarding per unit increase in the electricity rates for all consumers across Pakistan, including KE customers.
The decision would put an additional burden of more than Rs85 billion on electricity consumers, which are also facing inflation and hiked petrol prices in the country.
The amount will be recovered in bills of the next three months, starting from April 2024. The Nepra has approved the increase keeping in view the rising fuel prices in both local and international markets.
Who Will Be Exempted from New Electricity Rate?
The recent increase in power tariff will not affect the lifeline consumers. Furthermore, the customers who are consuming less than 100 units per month will be exempted from the new electricity rate.
