Two rare deer at Karachi Zoo are facing severe health risks due to the negligence of the zoo management, which has resulted in their antlers breaking. The broken antlers have caused deep wounds, putting the animals’ lives in immediate danger. This incident contradicts the Sindh government’s claims of allocating millions of rupees for the care of the zoo and its rare animals.

Photograph captured by Pakistan Observer’s Muhammad Noman have exposed the negligence of the zoo staff, revealing that timely treatment could have alleviated the pain and prevented further damage to these innocent creatures. The injuries from the broken antlers are now compounded by open wounds, escalating the risks to the deer’s health.

This issue could raise concerns among international animal welfare organizations regarding the zoo’s management practices and lack of proper treatment. Had timely intervention occurred, these rare deer could have been spared their suffering. The situation highlights serious gaps in both the zoo’s operations and the Sindh government’s policies, prompting further questions about their commitment to animal welfare.
