In a collaborative effort between the Pakistan Navy and Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB), the body of an 8-year-old girl, Sonia, was successfully retrieved from the main waterline in Malir’s Gaghar Phattak area on Tuesday. The tragic incident occurred two days prior when Sonia accidentally fell into the main waterline. Prompt action was taken to initiate a rescue operation to recover her body.

The joint effort involved divers from the Pakistan Navy, alongside rescue personnel and a dedicated team from the KWSB. Despite the challenging conditions, the teams persevered in their mission to retrieve the girl’s body. After extensive search efforts, the girl’s body was discovered approximately 2 kilometers away from the site of the incident.

Consequently, as a precautionary measure, water supply from the Dhabeji pumping station was temporarily halted since Sunday. The successful recovery of Sonia’s body highlights the importance of coordinated efforts in emergency situations and underscores the need for preventive measures to ensure public safety around water infrastructure.
