National Conference and Indian National Congress have said that the situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir is far from normal.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the function at the party office in Srinagar, NC Vice President Omar Abdullah said that the Narendra Modi-led Indian government was misleading the people about the situation in the territory. “We are pained to see the targeting attacks in Kashmir. Whenever statements about the improvement in the situation are being issued, we are witnessing the targeted attacks. Both civilians as well as police personnel are becoming the victims. The government should speak the truth about the situation in Kashmir,” he said.

“Sometimes police are targeted, sometimes ci-vilians. The situation is not normal, while the gov-ernment trying to mislead the people,” he said.

The National Congress Kashmir President, Vi-kar Rasool Wani, in a statement citing recent inci-dents of the killing of a police head constable and a non-local labourer besides injuring of a police officer termed the situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir as serious.

He asked the Modi regime and its puppet ad-ministration to ensure safety of innocents, instead of tall claims of total normalcy in the territory.

Meanwhile, Rattan Lal Gupta, National Conference Jammu president, said that the BJP government has plunged Jammu and Kashmir into unprecedented political uncertainty due to its inability to maintain law and order in the territory.

In response to a statement by the General Secretary of the BJP that “Jammu and Kashmir is scripting a new narrative of development day by day,” the senior NC leader sharply criticized the Modi government and its proxy for their failure to ensure the safety and security of Jammu and Kashmir’s citizens and police personnel.—KMS
