The 21st meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Law and Justice was held here on Thursday with MNA Riaz Fatyana in chair.
The Committee unanimously confirmed the minutes of its previous meetings held on August 20 and 21, 2019 and deferred the agenda item No. II till its next meeting.
The Committee considered the Bill “The Muslim Family Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2019 (Section 4) (Government Bill)”and “The Muslim Family Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2019 (Section 7) (Government Bill)” after detail deliberations, at request of the Ministry Committee deferred the Bills till next meeting.
The NA Body reconsidered the Bill “The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2019(Amendment in Article 51, 76 and 106) (Moved by Ms. Kishwar Zehra MNA)” and “The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2019(Amendment in article 51 and 59) (Moved by Ms. Kishwar Zehra MNA)” after detail deliberations the Committee deferred the Bills next meeting due to non-availability of the Mover.
The Committee considered the Bill “The Family Court (Amendment) Bill, 2019 (Amendment in Article 10) (Moved by Syed Javed Hassnain MNA)” after detail deliberations the Committee recommends that the Bill as amended by the committee may be passed by the Assembly.
The NA Body considered the Bill, “The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2019 (Amendment in Article 25) (Moved by Dr. Nafeesa Shah, MNA)”. After detail deliberations the committee deferred the same till next meeting with recommendations that the Secretary Ministry of Human Rights, Secretary Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony and Secretary Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training shall be called to attend the next meeting.
Members/MNAs/Movers Mr. Atta Ullah, Mr. Lal Chand, Mr. Muhammad Farooq Azam Malik, Ms. Malika Ali Bukhari, Mr. Sana Ullah Masti Khail, Agha Hassan Baloch, Ms. Shunila Ruth, Ch. Mehmood Bashir Virk, Mr. Usman Ibraheem, Mr. Saad Waseem, Syed Hussain Tariq, Ms. Nafeesa Shah, Syed Naveed Qamar Ms. Aliya Kamran and Syed Javed Hassnain attended the meeting. Minister for Law and Justice, senior officers from the Ministry of Law and Justice with their staff, Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology, representatives of the Election Commission and representatives of NADRA were also present on the occasion.
