Observer Report

Karachi

Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has criticized the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), saying that it is beyond his comprehension why it still stands with the PTI government. He urged the party to put public interests before its own.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of Ibrahim Haideri Road from Fishermen Chowrangi in Karachi, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that PPP had objected to the census results from day one. If the people’s representation in the census is not correct, the share received for them will be lesser, he added.
Bilawal said that the PTI government was formed due to the votes of MQM, who themselves are “selected”, not elected. He asked his critics what they had done for the city of Karachi.
The PPP chairman said that the MQM members have been getting “selected” from before he was even born. He asked MQM what it had done for District Kornagi, being a part of the federal government.
He said that the World Bank had estimated USD 10 billion for the needs of Karachi, which the federal government is not ready to provide. It has always been the case that despite elected officials from Karachi being part of the government, they have not been able to give Karachi its due share.
He said that we are only demanding what is rightfully ours, if we get full share we will change the fate of Karachi.
Bhutto once again called the government a “puppet” and said that its time in power has run out.
