More rains, heavy snowfall likely in Murree, other tourist points in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – More rain-thunderstorms with heavy snowfall are likely in Murree, Nathia Gali and other tourist destinations in Pakistan on Friday evening/night, Saturday and Sunday.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a strong westerly wave is affecting most parts of Pakistan which will likely persist in upper parts till Sunday (March 03).

Under the influence of this weather system, heavy rains and snowfall are likely in Murree, Nathia Gali, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Diamir, Astore, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Bagh, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur on Friday evening/night, Saturday and Sunday.

Heavy rains may cause flash flooding in hill torrents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Murree, and Galyat on Friday evening/night and Saturday (March 01-02). Heavy rain/snowfall may cause the closure of roads in Murree, Galyat, Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch and Haveli during the period. Tourists are advised not to travel unnecessarily.

Murree’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 00-02 degrees Celsius on Saturday and -01-01 C on Sunday.

Meanwhile, freezing weather prevailed in Murree, Nathia Gali and other tourist sites in the country during the last 24 hours.

Kalam and Gupis remained the coldest places where the temperature dropped 03 C below freezing.

In Murree, minimum temperature was recorded at 01 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 93 per cent.
