Ministry plans setting up 100 Mother, Child Health units at schools

The Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training (MOFE&PT) has planned setting up around 100 Mother & Child Health Units (MCHU) at various schools and colleges in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

The measure will be taken in line with the Ministry’s vision and efforts to ensure wellbeing and growth of both the students and their mothers.

According to a senior official of the MOFE&PT, 100 Mother and child Health units will be set up by August 1 this year as currently summer holidays have been announced in the educational institutions w.e.f June 10, (today). This will not only improve the performance of the students it will also motivate the staff to focus on their work with dedication, devotion and motivation.

The staff will get training by experts from the Ministry of National Health Services and through this step, we shall be integrating a mother and child unit within a school that will significantly enhance the wellbeing and development of both students and their families, the official further said.

To begin with, the dedicated space for these MCHUs, would provide essential support services such as childcare, nutritional support, health checkups, and educational resources for young mothers and their children.

It will also ensure that the young mothers will continue affording reliable childcare, the official said. Additionally, it will promote early childhood development by providing children with a safe and nurturing environment.

This holistic approach not only fosters a supportive school community but also contributes to the overall goal of reducing dropout rates and improving educational outcomes.

In this regard, two prominent educational institutes the Islamabad College for Boys G-6/3 and the Islamabad College for Girls (ICG) F-6/2 will soon become google reference schools in next two weeks, the official further said.

Moreover,In order to engage students in the creative and healthy activities, the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional has announced to hold training camps titled “Summer Fiesta” offering a number of activities.

According to an official source, the summer camps will be held from June 24 till July 31 to provide an opportunity to the students to spend their time in doing some constructive activities.

The training summer camps for Islamabad Capital Territory schools and colleges will offer a wide range of benefits, including extended learning, character development, socialization, exposure to new experiences, personal growth and development of essential life skills. These activities have been designed for the students in line with the modern requirements so that the students can find these useful in determining their future interests.
