The Karachi Municipal Council convened a special session at the mayor’s office to address recent incidents of violence, including the death of UC 9 chairman Sabir Ali Magsi and city council member Parveen Murad Baloch. Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab and Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad chaired the session, where prayers were offered for the departed soul of Sabir Ali Magsi, who was killed in a recent incident in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Representatives from various political parties expressed their condolences and condemned the heinous act.

The council passed two resolutions demanding swift action and arrests of the perpetrators behind Sabir Ali Magsi’s murder and the formation of a committee to address rising street crimes in Karachi. Mayor Murtaza Wahab assured prompt action, announcing the immediate formation of a committee to meet with the Sindh Inspector General to address law and order concerns in the city. The council also decided to adjourn the session in observance of Magsi’s demise. The next session is scheduled for March 8, 2024.
