While praising the contributions of two great leaders of the Pakistan Movement, Chaudhry Rehmat Ali and Qazi Muhammad Isa, Caretaker Federal Minister for Education Madad Ali Sindhi has ordered display of their portraits at the National Book Foundation (NBF).
The minister gave these directions during a visit to the NBF. He also directed the NBF to organize the National Book Gala at the Pakistan China Friendship Centre next month (October).Earlier, Managing Director of the National Book Foundation Dr Raja Mazhar Hameed received the Minister upon his arrival. While paying tributes to Ch Rehmat Ali and Qazi Muhammad Isa in the Independence Movement of Pakistan, Madad Ali Sindhi said they played a critical role in Pakistan’s Independence Movement.
It may be mentioned here that the current Chief Justice of Pakistan, Qazi Faez Isa is the son of Qazi Muhammad Isa who was the Muslim League leader in Quetta and had hosted Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on a number of occasions.
He said that their contribution towards the creation of Pakistan would always be remembered as they were the true heroes of Pakistan and we should be honour red and remember them and continue their legacy. Madad said they serve as an inspiration to the future leaders of the country. About the book culture, he said, book reading was imperative in creating an enlightened youth.
About the National Book Gala he said it would serve the purpose to spread the culture of book reading in the country. He said that all the stakeholders should be involved including the universities, colleges and schools to participate and attend the mega book event.He said that the purpose should be to bridge the gap between books and the youth.
The caretaker education minister said our society has seen a rise of intolerance in recent times and this can be dealt with only by spreading knowledge and wisdom in society. He said that NBF should play a critical role in bridging the gap between the youth of the country and books. He highlighted the importance of having regular book fairs that push the nation towards the books. MD NBF informed the minister that the book fair would be a 3-day day gala and the Prime Minister of Pakistan will be invited to inaugurate the event. It will be organized in the last week of October, MD NBF said adding leading literary personalities and intellectuals would be attending various sessions on the occasion.
