LAHORE –  The Lahore High Court on Wednesday issued a notice to the Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on petition moved by Provincial Information Minister Azma Bokhari against  ‘deep-fake video’.

Lahore High Court Chief Justice Aalia Neelum heard Azma Bokhari’s petition.

During the hearing, Chief Justice Aaliya Neelam remarked that the images attached to the petition should have been removed. She also remarked that if the images had been removed, the petition could have been accepted today.

Azma Bokhari’s lawyer informed the court that the second objection to their petition was that they should approach the FIA. They filed a miscellaneous petition to address this.

Later,  the court removed the Registrar Office’s objection and instructed that the petition be scheduled for a hearing tomorrow (Thursday).

Azma Bokhari approached the Lahore High Court against an alleged fake indecent video, and made the federal government, FIA and PTI worker Falak Javed parties in the case.

The petitioner stated that on July 24, a false video against Azma Bokhari was shared by Falak Javed on X (formerly known as Twitter).

The video was widely shared, damaging her reputation.

The petitioner asked the court to initiate legal action against PTI worker Falak Javed and others, direct the FIA to present an investigative report, and order the placement of Falak Javed’s name on the Exit Control List (ECL).

Earlier, while speaking to the media, Provincial Information Minister Azma Bokhari said that she has to visit courts early in the morning to seek justice.

“Tomorrow, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has summoned the FIA, and they will see what response is given,” she said.

Azma Bokhari further stated that those who created this storm of indecency are still roaming free.

She said that it is no longer her responsibility to point out who is doing what; it is now the responsibility of the institutions and FIA to address the matter.
