The vacancies of 20 judges in the Lahore High Court have been vacant for the last two years. Due to the shortage of judges, the number of pending cases has exceeded 200,000. 16 names will be considered for judges. The number of approved judges in the Lahore High Court is 60 while 40 judges have been working for the last two years. Due to the shortage of judges, the number of pending cases is increasing day by day and this number has crossed two lakh. A meeting of the Judicial Commission has been convened in the Supreme Court on January 12 under the chairmanship of Gulzar Ahmad, in which the appointments of new judges will be considered. The meeting will be attended by Chief Justice High Court Muhammad Qasim Khan and other members of the Judicial Commission. The meeting will consider appointing 11 lawyers, three session judges and two law officers as additional judges of the High Court.
The names of Additional Advocate General Punjab Muhammad Shaan Gul, Additional Prosecutor General Muhammad Amjad Rafique will be considered, Advocate Muhammad Tariq Nadeem, Iftikhar Ahmad Mian, Barrister Sultan Tanveer, Ahmad Nadeem Arshad, Hassan Nawaz Makhdoom, Advocate Ali Zia Bajwa, Muhammad The names of Raheel Kamran Sheikh, Abid Hussain Chatha, Syed Intikhab Hussain Shah, Advocate Muhammad Asif Saeed Rana, Sarfraz Ahmed Cheema, District and Sessions Judge Gujranwala Chaudhry Humayun Imtiaz, Sessions Judge Gujrat Safdar Saleem and Registrar Federal Shariah Court Irfan will also be considered. The name of Ahmed Saeed will also be considered.
