Karachi police have apprehended Faisal Mulla, a notorious commander affiliated with the Lyari gang war, known for his involvement in sectarian target killings, extortion, and terrorism activities within the city. The arrest followed a raid by Garden police, culminating in an encounter where Mulla was captured in an injured condition. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) City, Amjad Hayat, highlighted Mulla’s extensive criminal record, citing his participation in sectarian violence, extortion schemes, and terrorist acts.
Mulla, considered one of the most wanted criminals by law enforcement agencies, operated under the Lakho and AyazZohri group, orchestrating grenade blasts and targeted killings, particularly targeting businessmen, builders, and shopkeepers who resisted extortion demands.
According to SSP Amjad Hayat, Mulla had affiliations with a religious group since 2012 and later joined the Lakhu and Zehri group in 2015. He operated alongside accomplices such as Ashfaq Captain and Manoor, orchestrating hand grenade attacks, targeted killings, and extortion activities. Among his victims were political party workers and Deoband religious scholars.
During the raid, law enforcement recovered a hand grenade and a rifle from Mulla’s possession, further solidifying the evidence against him. While Mulla is currently under investigation, his arrest marks a significant victory for Karachi police in their ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and maintain law and order in the city.
