Lahore Electric Supply Company LESCO has shared new update for green meters, showing a major shift in the city’s renewable energy landscape.
As per the latest update, LESCO allowed temporary installation of bi-directional green meters for next three mont (until mid-October). Those who are interested will receive No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for these meters, permitting their use in solar setups.
This decision follows LESCO’s earlier move to switch to What Is Advanced Metering Infrastructure AMI instead of green meters. The transition to AMI meters reportedly caused massive cost hikes, prompting concerns among consumers and industry stakeholders.
Amid this situation, the availability of AMI meter also adds to woes to solar energy consumers. The temporary reintroduction of green meters is anticipated to address these challenges, offering a more cost-effective and accessible option for solar system users.
LESCO Green Meters Update
LESCO earlier trahsed reports of ban on Green Electricity Meters. Instead, they announced that NOCs for AMI meters would be issued to help reduce over-billing and power theft.
LESCO also explained that power outage was due to repair work on the I-Con Valley feeder, with advance notice given through newspapers.
