Former Punjab Governor and Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) leader Sardar Latif Khan Khosa questioned the rumors of his removal from the party, saying that “who could do so?,”.

Khosa, however, confirmed that he would not be able to attend the PPP’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting due to take place in Lahore on Thursday (today). “Yes, I received an invitation to attend the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting but I won’t be able to attend it,” said the former Punjab governor while exclusively talking to Pakistan Observer. He stated that he was busy with the Supreme Court because of some important cases. Feeling proud of his association with the PPP, Khosa said that it was his party and no one could remove him from it. The PPP leader also turned down the reports of receiving any show-cause notice so far. However, he said that he would decide what to do if he received it.

The statement came at a moment when PPP Secretary General Nayar Bukhari claimed that Sardar Latif Khan Khosa was issued a show-cause notice. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari had already arrived in Lahore to chair the CEC meeting. The PPP had taken disciplinary action againstKhosa for representing imprisoned PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan in a corruption case. The party issued a show-cause notice to Khosa, questioning his failure to seek prior permission for representing a leader from a rival political party in court and why no disciplinary action should be taken against him. The notice gave Latif Khosa seven days to respond and was issued by the PPP’s Secretary-General, Nayyer Bukhari.

In a related development, another senior PPP leader and eminent lawyer, Aitzaz Ahsan, also opted not to attend the PPP Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting in Lahore. His absence, the sources said, is due to prior engagements in Islamabad, following his participation in the previous PPP CEC meeting held in Karachi.

It’s noteworthy that Latif Khosa, a dissenting PPP member, also opted to abstain from the CEC meeting in Lahore.
