ISLAMABAD – Reports of ATM cyber threats sparked concerns among users in Pakistan as online banking services and ATM are part of daily life in this information era.

Amid these reports, another clarification surfaced online that recent rumors about ATMs and online banking being shut down are fabricated. National Computer Emergency Response Team confirms that, based on an investigation by the State Bank of Pakistan and other relevant bodies, there has been no such disruption, and the banking infrastructure remains fully operational.

It ensured people that cybersecurity teams are actively overseeing the protection of financial institutions to clear up any confusion.

ATM Cyber Attacks Update in Pakistan

Earlier, State Bank of Pakistan and 1Link trahsed rumors about alleged cyberattacks on ATM. They also cautioned masses against clicking on suspicious online links and sharing personal information.

SBP warned users to log out of online banking sessions promptly and to check their account statements regularly.

As of Ausgust 20, there has been no major complaints on ATM glitches or fault in online banking services, and people are encouraged to disregard such hoax.
