Lahore, Punjab weather: Intense heatwaves, gusty winds predicted

LAHORE – Intense heatwaves will continue to persist in Lahore and most districts of Punjab on Wednesday and the remaining days of the week.

Gusty winds are predicted in central and southern Punjab during the period.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. High pressure at the upper atmospheric level prevails over the central and southern parts of the country and will likely persist during the next four days.

Under these conditions, intense heatwaves will continue to persist in Lahore and most districts of Punjab on Wednesday and the next three days.

During the period, day temperatures will likely remain between 04°C to 06°C above normal levels in southern Punjab. Day temperatures will likely remain between 05°C to 07°C above normal levels in central and upper Punjab.

Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 42°C and 44°C on Wednesday and between 43°C and 45°C on Thursday.

Meanwhile, heatwaves prevailed in Lahore and most districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Rahim Yar Khan, Bhakkar and Dera Ghazi Khan remained the hottest places in Punjab, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 47°C.

In Lahore, the maximum temperature was recorded at 43°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 24 per cent.
