University of Karachi (KU) successfully conducted entry tests on Sunday for its newly introduced BS in Artificial Intelligence (AI) morning program and the BS in Computer Science (BSCS) and BS in Software Engineering (BSSE) evening programs for the academic session of 2025.

The written test, lasting 100 minutes, was held across 25 examination rooms within the departments of history, political science, and psychology. Professor Dr. Saima Akhtar, in charge of the Directorate of Admissions, informed KU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi that 1,122 admit cards had been issued for the morning and evening program tests, with 1,031 candidates participating.

Professor Dr. Saima Akhtar shared that 220 seats are available for the BSCS and BSSE programs, while the BS AI program has 40 seats. A total of 1,026 applications were received for the evening programs, while 335 applications were submitted for the BS AI program. Additionally, 120 candidates who cleared the morning session test on November 17, 2024, but could not secure admission will be considered based on their previous test scores, exempting them from retaking the written test.

The results of the admission tests will be released on December 30, 2024. Candidates will be able to access their scores through their respective portals. The KU Vice Chancellor, along with prominent faculty members including Professor Dr. Shaista Tabassum, Professor Dr. Anila Amber Malik, and others, inspected the examination rooms and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements.

The university deployed help desks and watch-and-ward staff at key entry points and around the exam centers to assist candidates and their families.
