Kohli surpasses Babar in ICC Test batting rankings

LAHORE – Virat Kohli, the former Indian captain, showcased a stellar performance against South Africa, securing the sixth position in the latest ICC Test batting rankings.

 Kohli’s contributions included scores of 38 and 76 in Centurion, along with a crucial 46 in the Cape Town Test, ultimately playing a pivotal role in India’s series victory, which concluded with a total of 172 runs.

This rise in rankings has propelled Kohli to 775 points, surpassing Pakistan’s Babar Azam, who faced challenges against Australia, slipping to the eighth position with 768 points after a modest 126-run performance in six innings. Additionally, Mohammad Rizwan’s impressive innings of 88 runs in the Sydney Test earned him 668 rating points, securing the 17th spot.

Saud Shakeel Claims 14th Position in Batting Rankings

Saud Shakeel has secured the 14th position with 693 rating points, benefiting from Marais Labuschagne’s scores of 60 and 62* that propelled him to 802 points and secured the fourth position in the batting rankings.

The current leader in the batting rankings is Kane Williamson with 864 points, followed by Joe Root with 859 and Steve Smith with 818.

Aamer Jamal Shines in bowling debut

In the bowling department, Aamer Jamal made a remarkable impact in his debut series, claiming six wickets in the Sydney Test.

The outstanding performance has elevated him to the 45th position with 432 points. Shaheen Afridi stands as the highest-ranked Pakistani bowler at the 12th position with 733 points, while Ravichandran Ashwin tops the bowling rankings with 863 points.
