In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the family members of senior Hurriyat leader, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, have termed sealing of their house for the last over eight years as the worst example of human rights violation.
The family members of Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori in a media interview in Srinagar said, India is the only country in the world where an individual has been forcibly evicted from his home along with his family for his political beliefs.
They said, “On one hand, Human Rights Day is being observed all over the world and on this occasion, we would like to remind that on the other hand, we have been suffering for the last over 8 years. We appeal to local and international human rights organizations to break their silence and play their part in rescuing our home.”
The family members said that the occupation authorities forcibly and illegally sealed their three-marla house in Chanapora area of Srinagar on June 30, 2012 on a false and baseless case registered against Khan Sopori to victimize him for his political ideology and since then police and the administration had failed to present any evidence against him.—KMS
