KARACHI – Heatwaves will likely persist across Sindh with 04 to 06°C above normal day temperatures on Wednesday and the next two days.
As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A high pressure has developed in the upper atmosphere which caused heatwave like conditions especially over Punjab and Sindh. Heatwave conditions will further intensify from May 23 and will likely persist till May 27.
Under these conditions, heatwaves will likely persist Karachi, Hyderabad and most parts of Sindh on Wednesday with 04 to 06°C above normal day temperatures. Heatwaves will intensify on Thursday and likely to persist during the week.
Karachi’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 36-38°C on Wednesday and 37-39°C on Thursday.
Hyderabad’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 42-44°C on Wednesday and 43-45°C on Thursday.
Meanwhile, hot and dry weather prevailed in the port city, Hyderabad and most parts of the province during the last 24 hours.
Mohenjo-Daro remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 49°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 41 per cent.
In Karachi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 36°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 76 per cent.
In Hyderabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 57 per cent.
