WASHINGTON – Outgoing US President Joe Biden said he is committed to a peaceful transition as Harris-led Democrats faced setbacks against Donald Trump.

In his first public address after poll results, Biden outlined his commitment to national unity after a highly divisive election. He highlighted the administration’s achievements, telling people about his achievements despite the pandemic and other woes.

He noted that although some of the benefits were already being felt, the full effects of these policies would unfold over the next decade. “Much of the work we’ve done is already being felt, but the vast majority of it will be felt over the next 10 years,” Biden said.

Biden, 81, emphasized the importance of national unity, urging Americans to view each other as “fellow citizens, not adversaries.” “No matter who you voted for, I hope we can see each other as fellow Americans,” Biden stated, calling for a reduction in political tensions.

He also acknowledged strong emotions post 2024 election, urging Americans to accept the results and stressing. Biden also took opportunity to praise Vice President Kamala Harris, calling her a woman of “true character” and commending her campaign for inspiring many across the nation.

He said setbacks are a natural part of life, but giving up is never an option.

Earlier in the day, Vice President Kamala Harris officially conceded the 2024 presidential election to Donald Trump in a brief phone call. She also called Trump to congratulate him on his victory, with a senior aide confirming that Harris expressed the importance of a peaceful transfer of power.
