Over 100 protest demonstrations were held across Karachi here on Friday as Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) was observing the day against desecration of Holy Quran in Sweden.* JI Karachi chief Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman addressed a protest demonstration held outside a mosque at Tariq Road. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the Western World has been attempting to normalize blasphemy and desecration of Holy Quran in a blatant show of extremism.

He further said that the path of extremism instead of mutual respect would lead the Western World to self destruction, anarchy and coalition with Muslims.  He also highlighted the dual standards by the Western World towards Holocaust and Islam, saying that the United States, the European Union and other western powers claimed to be trailblazers of the freedom of speech and even attempt to normalize hurting sentiments of over one billion Muslims under the curtain of freedom of speech, whereas the same adopt totally different approach towards Holocaust.

The JI leader said that Muslims would not tolerate any such idiotic behavior towards Islam and Islamic symbols. He lambasted political leaders of the Muslim block in the world in general and the government of Pakistan in particular for their failure in getting the shameful series to a halt. The JI leader said that Muslims across the world would not tolerate continuation of this nefarious policy and the global movement against Islamophobia will increase to the next level, if the OIC and the Muslim World didn’t take any action.

The JI leader further said that the ruling elite in Pakistan was responsible for the economic mess and not the nation, whereas the country was also a nuclear power and had potential to lead the region if the corruption in eliminated. In this backdrop, the rulers in Pakistan need to engage the government in Sweden, instead of issuing mere condemnations.
