Pakistan Muslim League-N senior leader and former Federal Minister Mian Javed Latif on Thursday accused Imran Khan of destroying Pakistan’s economy and social fabric.
Mian Javed Latif responded to Imran Khan’s conditional apology concerning the events of May 9.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore on Thursday, he criticized Iman for claiming that he had suggested protests outside the GHQ and referred to his previous statements, where he said people would react if Rangers or the army attempted to make arrests.
Latif questioned the roles of individuals like Hassaan Niazi, Yasmin Rashid, Hamad Azhar, and Shahryar Afridi in this context.
He further mentioned that when Nawaz Sharif was arrested, they did not attack institutions. Latif reminded everyone who was responsible for Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification in 2017.
He asserted that Imran’s apology cannot erase his past actions, including the 2014 D-Chowk protests.
Latif also commented on the question of who facilitated the events of May 9, asking if that support for Imran Khan and his party had ceased.
He highlighted the irony of Imran seeking conditional forgiveness for his role in the May 9 events while questioning whether he would apologize for his previous actions, such as writing a letter to the IMF and speaking publicly against state institutions.
Latif demanded to know if Imran would apologize for labelling those who brought him to power as “Mir Jafar” and “Mir Sadiq.” He further accused Imran Khan of training terrorists at Zaman Park.
He questioned whether Imran’s apology could provide jobs or basic necessities for the people suffering under the current economic conditions.
Latif also criticized Imran for inviting foreign intervention, contrasting it with the sacrifices made by the people of Bangladesh to resist foreign interference.
