LAHORE – Relief for residents of federal capital Islamabad as Met Office predicted rainy day with partly cloudy skies in city on Sunday.

In latest advisory, Met Office said thunderstorms and rain will offer brief respite from intense heatwave gripping the region. Temperatures are expected to range between 39°C and 41°C, providing a slight cool-down from the recent scorching heat.

The federal capital recorded a sweltering 40°C on Saturday, with humidity levels remaining below 30 percent. The upcoming rain is anticipated to bring temporary relief from the ongoing dry conditions but may also cause localized disruptions such as slippery roads and possible waterlogging. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to exercise caution.

Islamabad Weather Update

Meanwhile, most parts of Pakistan will continue to endure a severe heatwave for the next two to three days. Daytime temperatures are expected to remain 5 to 7°C above normal in the northern and central regions including central and upper Punjab, Islamabad, KP, Kashmir, and GB.

The southern half, comprising Sindh, southern Punjab, and Balochistan, will experience temperatures 4 to 6°C above normal. The synoptic situation reveals a high-pressure system prevailing over most parts of the country at upper atmospheric levels, expected to persist for the next two days, sustaining the hot and dry conditions.

Rain, wind, and thunderstorms are forecasted for Gilgit-Baltistan, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and adjacent hilly regions during the evening and night hours.

Residents are urged to stay updated on weather advisories and take necessary precautions as the heatwave continues alongside intermittent rain showers.
