ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s armed forces spokesperson and DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry, highlighted importance of regional cooperation and praised Iran’s efforts in reducing tensions across South Asia.

In his interview with Iranian news agency, ISPR Chief Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif thanked Tehran’s constructive role played by Iran in fostering dialogue and regional peace. “Pakistan is thankful for efforts of international community and especially appreciative of the support from our brotherly nation, the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he said.

Referring to recent visit of Iran’s foreign minister to Islamabad, the three star general stressed that diplomacy and strong bilateral ties are vital for lasting peace in the region. He warned, however, of certain elements within the region, backed by external forces, that are attempting to destabilize relations between neighboring countries.

“There are actors in the region who seek to create divisions among friendly nations. We must remain vigilant and united in the face of such threats,” he stated.

ISPR chief reaffirmed the historic and brotherly ties between neighboring nations, stressing that both countries have consistently supported one another through challenging times. He emphasized that Islamabad views its border with Iran as one of peace and friendship.

Chaudhry called Pakistan and Iran partners in peace and stability. Our cooperation spans multiple sectors, and we look forward to strengthening this bond even further,” he added.
