Islamabad, Rawalpindi weather update; more intermittent rains expected

ISLAMABAD – More rains and gusty winds are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Thursday evening/night, Friday and Saturday with occasional gaps.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), moist currents from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal penetrate most parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave is also affecting upper parts of the country.

Under these weather conditions, rains and gusty winds are expected in the twin cities and at isolated places in southeast/lower Sindh, Kashmir, northeast Punjab, Pothohar region, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast/south Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan on Thursday evening/night.

On Friday and Saturday, scattered rain-wind/thundershowers are expected in the twin cities and at isolated places in Kashmir, northeast Punjab, Pothohar region, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, southeast/lower Sindh while at isolated places in northeast/south Balochistan, upper Sindh, south Punjab and south Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 41-43°C on Friday and 39-41°C on Saturday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 41-43°C on Friday and 39-41°C on Saturday.

Meanwhile, scattered rain-wind/thunderstorms occurred in southeast/lower Sindh including Karachi and at isolated places in Pothohar region, Islamabad, Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Zhob during the last 24 hours.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Balakot 16, Chitral, Kalam 04, Drosh 01 and Zhob 01

Sibbi remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 48°C. Maximum temperature in Jacobabad was recorded at 47°C, Dadu, Nokkundi, Mohenjo-Daro and Turbat at 46°C, and Dalbandin, Larkana and Nawabshah at 45°C.

In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 40°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 65 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 39°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 73 per cent.
