ISLAMABAD – Cold wave is likely to persist in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday.
As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.
Under these conditions, extremely cold/windy weather is expected in the twin cities and most parts of Pakistan on Friday night and during the weekend (Saturday, Sunday).
Frost may occur at few places in Islamabad, upper Punjab and plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Shallow fog is likely at few places in central/south Punjab and upper Sindh.
Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between -01°C to 01°C on Saturday and Sunday.
Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 01-03°C on Saturday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, cold wave prevailed over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Hilly areas received snowfall. Frost occurred in Islamabad, upper Punjab and plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Astore -11, Skardu -09, Quetta, Kalam, Gupis -06, Hunza, Bagrote, Ziarat, Kalat -05, Gilgit, Chitral and Dir -04.
Leh remained the coldest place in the country where the temperature dropped 12°C below the freezing point. Minimum temperature in Astore was recorded at -11°C, Skardu -09°C, Hunza, Bagrote, Ziarat, Kalat -05°C, and Gilgit, Chitral and Dir at -03°C.
In Islamabad, the minimum temperature dropped to the freezing point (0°C). Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 34 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature was recorded at 02°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 27 per cent.
