Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) on Tuesday handed over 250 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suits to Islamabad police. These suits were formally handed over to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Farhat Abbass Kazmi by Vice President ICCI Saif ur Rehman Khan.
These suits were distributed at various police stations and offices of Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC), Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) and operation division.
Meanwhile, DIG (Operations) said that every possible effort is being made to protect health of policemen performing duties in front line to curb coronavirus. He said that these suits would ensure their safety and they would perform in more effective manner.
He said that personnel of Islamabad police are committed to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens. Police is performing on various fronts and also accomplishing the prime responsibility of maintaining law and order and secure people from criminal elements, he maintained.
DIG (Operations) also directed all Zonal SPs to take care of their subordinates and provide them safety kits and hygienic food during duty.
Meanwhile, the Women Democratic Front (WDF) has raised concerns over the increasing number of healthcare workers’ infection rates and lack of provision of personal protective equipment (PPE) for the healthcare workers especially those working on the front-lines of the Corona pandemic.
Dozens of healthcare workers have been infected over the past few months, a statement issued by the WDF said on Tuesday.
“The healthcare workers especially the large number of female nursing staff must be provided with PPE against occupational hazard since they return to their families and cannot isolate themselves due to the work burden at home.
This is sheer neglect and incompetence on part of the federal government”, President WDF Ismat Shahjahan said in a meeting held to discuss the increasing vulnerability of the working class during the on-going viral pandemic.
