PAKISTAN on Saturday unmasked the real ugly and dirty face of India before the world when it presented a dossier containing irrefutable evidence of India’s sponsorship of terrorism in the country. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and DG ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar at a news conference came up with well documented proofs as to how Indian intelligence agency RAW and its Consulates in Afghanistan are patronizing terrorist groups including the TTP to stoke instability in Pakistan.
The fact of the matter is that our security forces have waged a very successful drive against the terrorists. As a result of their relentless sacrifices, peace largely stands restored in the country. This is something that is not digestible to our arch enemy and it has become active once again to derail the country’s journey towards peace and upend its economic growth. In the last two to three months, a surge has once again been seen in terror activities with fears being expressed that India is plotting to fan sectarian strife in the country. The very dossier unveiled really shows the level of alertness and professionalism of our relevant quarters especially the intelligence agencies which traced the whole communication that had been taking place between the Indian officers and the terrorist groups. The timing of dossier is also very important as most recently two reports that emanated from the UN and the US also found Indian hand in glove with terrorist groups. The top secret files of the US Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) have uncovered the involvement of Indian banks, including the state-owned banks, in money laundering through transactions used in facilitating and financing acts of terrorism, particularly in the region. All these reports prove true the admission statement made by Kulbhushan Jadhav that he was sent to Pakistan to foment militancy and sabotage the multibillion dollars China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
Time has come for the world to take notice of the terrorism that is being perpetrated at the state level by India. As we have been repeating in these columns, sanctions should be imposed on India by the UN and other important capitals especially the US until it corrects its course. Financial Action Task Force (FATF) should also blacklist India as the money laundered out of India is being used to finance terror groups. Whilst our intelligence agencies have done the commendable job, it is now up to our foreign office and the government as to how forcefully and effectively they present Indian links with terrorists at the world bodies including the UN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The world should rise above its narrow minded approach of seeing India as a big economic market. If India is not reined in today, it will continue growing into a bigger monster posing threat to peace and stability of the region and the world at large. The question arises as if such undeniable evidences from different places would have emerged against a Muslim country, had the world acted as a silent spectator or remained indifferent. Even on false allegations that the country would have been attacked by now without the UN sanction as was done in the case of Iraq. These double standards must come to an end if we are really interested to make this world abode of peace.
Our government should also raise the matter with the Afghan government, reminding the Afghan officials of commitments they made with Pakistan and that too repeatedly of not allowing their land to be used against Pakistan. We understand without the support of Afghan officials especially those in the NDS, RAW cannot operate so freely to establish a consortium of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) with the proscribed dissident organizations of Balochistan. Afghan government must act decisively against these Indian Consulates which will never allow return of peace and stability to their country. Given the threats faced by the country, we, especially the political leadership, should demonstrate unity in their ranks and file whilst rising above petty differences to foil the sordid designs of the enemy and take the country towards sustainable peace and stability.
