ISLAMABAD – Iranian President Dr Ebrahim Raisi has landed in port city of Karachi during the last leg of his Tuesday.
In Karachi, he was welcomed by senior officials of Sindh government. President is slated to visit Quaid-e-Azam mausoleum during his visit to port city.
Raisi touched down in capital on Monday on 3-day official visit from April 22 to 24. His visit is the first by any head of state to Islamabad after the February 8 general election.
Stringent security measures have been implemented, including air surveillance and temporary internet suspension during the dignitary’s movement.
To minimize inconvenience to the public, local holidays were declared in Lahore and Karachi.
President Raisi earlier arrived in Lahore today and received a warm welcome from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz at the Allama Iqbal International Airport. He later met separately with CM Maryam and Governor Baligh Ur Rehman. Governor Baligh hosted a luncheon in honor of the distinguished guest and his delegation.
President Raisi visited the mausoleum of Allama Dr. Muhammad Iqbal in Lahore, where he laid a floral wreath and offered fateha. He expressed his admiration for Iqbal’s literary legacy in the visitors’ book.
