FIA started action as the country’s top court stopped Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf from using its iconic cricket bat symbol for the upcoming polls and what came after was hate campaigns against the country’s top judges on social media sites.

FIA later formed committee under Section 30 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016. Officials of six-member body are finding facts behind malicious social media campaigns attempting to malign the image of honorable judges.

The preliminary findings will be submitted to the Ministry of Interior within two weeks. The judiciary is often targeted by political parties, critics, and activists when a decision is taken against one group. Such campaigns against judges are condemnable, and authorities should look into issue of anti-judiciary derogatory campaign on social media.
