Indonesian, Malaysian CGs grace crafter’s reception

The crafter’s guild had the honor of hosting respectable Dr June Kuncoro Hadiningrat, Consul General Republic of Indonesia and Mr Herman Hardynata bin Ahmed, Consul General of Malaysia for a breakfast with delegates from the local craft community in Karachi.The breakfast meeting was fruitful with discussion on support for the local handicrafts sector and rise in women led craft businesses in Pakistan.

The Crafter’s Guild had the opportunity to share its journey and experiences in working with local makers, predominantly for the economic uplift and empowerment of women in Pakistan. Upcoming projects including Esnaf, the online marketplace for makers and creatives as well as annual craft fairs the likes of The Indie Summer Pop Up were also highlighted. Three delegates belonging to the craft community, Sharmeen Fahad of Sharmeen’s  Artistic Impressions, Ghunwa Memon of Pure Desi, and Pooja Achria of Pooja’s represented their respective brands and handmade products.

They received immense appreciation and encouragement from the honorable guests.It is hopeful that such experiences can assist local businesses with influence and support from various countries in a mission to promote local handicrafts and also enable opportunities for growth in tourism. With the mantra, Happiness is Handmade, here’s to more such opportunities for Made in Pakistan to grow, prosper, and receive exposure globally.
