In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, India’s dreaded National Investigation Agency (NIA) attached, today, the ancestral house of a Hurriyat activist, Basit Ahmad Reshi, in Sopore town of Baramulla district.

The NIA attached the ancestral property of Basit Ahmad Reshi in Yemberzalwari Shiva Dangerpora area of the town. The 27-year-old, Basit Ahmad Reshi, has been actively raising voice for the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir for the past several years.

The NIA action comes from the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) under the black law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). According to the Home Ministry, Basit Ahmad Reshi is a member of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and has been involved in anti-India and pro-freedom activities in Jammu and Kashmir.

The local residents, talking to media men, said the properties being attached by the NIA belong to the fathers or brothers of the activists while the families of those people who are raising their voice for right to self-determination are facing the Indian state terrorism in the territory.

Earlier, the NIA also attached property of prominent liberation leader, Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar, in Nowhatta area of Srinagar on Thursday.—KMS
