Indian troops, in their ongoing crackdown aimed to suppress the Kashmiris’ freedom movement, arrested three innocent youth in Reasi district of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the troops arrested the youth while they were travelling in a vehicle in Mahore area of the district. The troops also snatched Rs 50,000 from them. The Indian forces’ personnel have arrested hundreds of innocent Kashmiris in the last few weeks for their affiliation with the ongoing freedom movement.

Alongside resorting to arbitrary arrests, Indian troops are using every brutal method to martyr innocent people in the occupied territory. Besides bullets, they are using vehicles to kill the Kashmiris. In the latest such incident, a civilian Ghulam Hassan Magray died after he was deliberately hit by an Indian paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force vehicle in Ganderbal district.

Meanwhile, more posters appeared in different areas of occupied Kashmir, urging the international community to take cognizance of the gross human rights violations being perpetrated by Indian troops in the territory. The posters pasted by various Hurriyat organizations on walls, pillars and poles in Srinagar and other areas on the eve of Human Rights Day said that India had usurped all fundamental rights of the people of occupied Kashmir, including the right to self-determination.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference in a statement in Srinagar deplored that the Narendra Modi-led Indian government is hell bent upon erasing the Muslim identity of occupied Kashmir. It maintained that the Kashmiri people are determined to frustrate Modi’s nefarious designs and protect their unique identity and culture at all costs.

APHC leaders including Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Devinder Singh Behl and Farida Bahenji in their statements said the Narendra Modi-led Indian government is using judiciary as a tool to snatch the rights of the people of the occupied territory. They pointed out that the Indian judiciary has become highly biased against the Muslims in India and IIOJK since Modi assumed power in 2014.

On the other hand, the APHC-AJK Convener, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, in a letter sent to the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, on the eve of Human Rights Day drew his attention towards the grave human rights abuses being perpetrated by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir. Speakers of a webinar in Islamabad called for an early and amicable resolution of world conflicts including the Kashmir dispute to achieve the lofty goals set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.—KMS
