In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar has said that India is staging an election drama in the territory to hoodwink the world.

Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar in a statement issued in Srinagar said the Kashmiris are sacrificing their lives for the right to self-determination promised by the United Nations Security Council and not for a fraudulent regime or so-called elections.

He said election in presence of one million trigger-happy Indian troops is nothing but a military operation, adding even the UN has said that elections were not a substitute for right to self-determination and urged the World Body to implement its resolutions on Kashmir without further delay.

Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar strongly condemned increasing atrocities in IIOJK by Indian forces, especially cordon and search operations, and deplored that Indian forces had intensified crackdown in the Muslim-majority areas of Jammu during which Muslims are being harassed, arrested and their properties vandalized.

The APHC senior leader also said that the Indian investigation agencies like National Investigation Agency (NIA), State Investigation Agency (SIA) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) are used as a tool to punish the Kashmiris for demanding freedom from India. He said that the agencies confiscate properties of the freedom-loving people.

Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar further said these oppressive methods have failed to crush the Kashmiris’ movement but is gaining momentum with each passing day. He said the day is not far when the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people will bear fruit and will get freedom from Indian slavery.

He also urged the international community to take concrete steps for the settlement of the lingering Kashmir dispute so that permanent peace could be established in the region.—KMS
